About Melanie
Melanie is the Executive Assistant and Process Manager for Lichen Consulting. She provides administrative support to Lichen’s Principal and Project Managers, working behind the scenes to ensure a positive experience for all clients and the efficient organization of projects. She also contributes to overall company effectiveness and growth through process standardization, process implementation, and document creation.
Melanie is adept at creative problem solving and developing processes and solutions for effective and streamlined work. She has 10+ years of experience working in administration and project coordination, predominantly in the non-profit and culture sector.
She began her career working for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in a variety of roles. Having started her tenure within the film programming team, she then transitioned to working closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Office before finishing her time at TIFF working with the marketing and creative teams as a production manager. With TIFF, Melanie developed her skills in executive administration, project management, board governance, and communications, and she also instituted improved systems for departmental deadline tracking, stakeholder sign-off, presentation development, and board communications.
Next, she honed her skills in fundraising while working as the Executive Assistant to the CEO for Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. She also overhauled departmental procedures by implementing project management software and effective processes.
Melanie has completed a Bachelor of Arts with a Specialist in Arts Administration at the University of Toronto. She also holds certificates in graphic design from George Brown College and project management from the University of California, Irvine.
Over the last few years Melanie has lived in multiple Canadian cities and currently calls Halifax home. In her free time she enjoys crafting, knitting, and participating in various book clubs, as well as exploring the East Coast with her partner. Process
